I urge you to strongly oppose the so-called “SAVE Act” recently passed by the House. Despite its name, this bill is a dangerous attempt to suppress voter access under the false pretense of election integrity.
The legislation would impose new federal requirements for documentary proof of citizenship that millions of Americans simply do not have. These burdens would fall hardest on naturalized citizens, veterans, the elderly, rural voters—and women.
Election security matters—but so does freedom. A core conservative principle is limiting government overreach. This bill does the opposite. There is no credible evidence of widespread non-citizen voting that would justify this kind of federal overreach. Instead, this bill creates unnecessary red tape that could disenfranchise lawful voters and undermine confidence in our elections.
Pennsylvania should be a leader in protecting democratic participation—not in restricting it. Please reject the SAVE Act and any other effort that places baseless barriers between Americans and the right to vote.
