Vote no on Greg Cook's nomination to the federal district court in Alabama. His record isn't a matter of interpretation — it's a decades-long paper trail of partisan activism that disqualifies him from a lifetime appointment to the federal bench. He served as general counsel to the Alabama Republican Party, was a delegate for Trump in 2020, and campaigned for his state court seat on a promise to be a "Trump Tough" judge. That's not a judicial philosophy. That's a loyalty pledge.
His Senate Judiciary Committee responses made things worse. When asked about calling the Biden administration a "great national nightmare," Cook claimed the judicial code of conduct prevented him from explaining his own words. That code applies to sitting federal judges — not nominees. He didn't invoke a real constraint. He invented one to dodge a question, which moves his answer from evasion into an outright lie. A nominee who lies to the Senate Judiciary Committee about why he can't answer a question has already told you everything you need to know about how he'll conduct himself on the bench.
