An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures (Ariz. only)

Reconsider Scope of HB 2586 to Protect LGBTQ+ Content Access

The progression of Arizona House Bill 2586, which seeks to implement age verification measures for website content, raises concerns. The broad and undefined nature of what constitutes "harmful" content could inadvertently target and restrict access to queer and trans media/material. This could potentially lead to a form of online censorship, limiting the availability of vital resources and representation for these communities. It is requested that the bill's sponsors, Rep. Tim Dunn and Rep. Ben Toma, reconsider the language and scope of the bill to ensure it does not inadvertently marginalize or silence any groups. The bill should be revised to provide clear definitions and guidelines to prevent potential misuse and overreach.
