I am writing to urge you to support Assembly Bill 247, introduced by Democratic Assemblymember Isaac Bryan, to increase the hourly wage of incarcerated firefighters to be equal to the lowest non-incarcerated firefighter in the state. Incarcerated or not, firefighters are putting their lives on the line to help Californians and deserve to be paid for their dedication and taking this risk.
