Take a Stand: Reject Mass Deportation and Protect Our Communities

The push for mass deportation is not just an attack on millions of individuals—it is an assault on our values, our economy, and our communities. I urge you to take a stand against this inhumane and misguided effort and to refuse any cooperation or participation in carrying it out.
Immigrants are integral to the United States. They are our neighbors, coworkers, and friends. One in six people in the U.S. workforce is an immigrant, and they start businesses at higher rates than native-born citizens. They contribute billions in taxes, including to Social Security, which they often cannot access. The claim that immigrants are a threat to our country is not only false but a dangerous political ploy designed to distract from real issues. Studies show that undocumented people commit crimes at lower rates than U.S. citizens. The majority of fentanyl is trafficked through legal points of entry by U.S. citizens—not by asylum seekers. These facts are not up for debate; they are well-documented truths.
The reality is that the U.S. immigration system is broken, outdated, and ill-equipped to meet modern needs. Instead of investing in humane, effective solutions, political leaders stoke fear and division by promising the largest mass deportation operation in history—an operation that would tear families apart, remove lawful residents, and send people, including children, into dangerous situations. Many individuals at risk of deportation have a legal right to remain in the United States but lack the legal representation to defend themselves in immigration court. Deporting them is not justice; it is a failure of our system.
Mass deportation is not only cruel but also economically disastrous. Removing millions of workers would destabilize industries, disrupt local economies, and create labor shortages. It is both unethical and impractical. The American people understand this—polls show that the majority believe immigration strengthens our country and that those fleeing violence deserve protection.
I call on you to stand on the right side of history. Reject the lies that demonize immigrants and refuse to be complicit in policies that violate basic human dignity. Instead, advocate for reforms that strengthen pathways to citizenship: an immigration system that is fair, functional, and humane.
I urge you to use every tool at your disposal — whether through executive action, legislative measures, or withholding state resources —to oppose and prevent mass deportation efforts in our state.
Please reply in writing with your stance on this urgent issue.
