An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Demand Action on ICE-Related Deaths — People Are Dying

152 so far! Help us get to 250 signers!

A 28-year-old man is dead. He fled ICE and HSI agents at a gas station in St. Augustine, Florida, ran across a busy road, and was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer. This is the third death connected to ICE encounters in roughly one week — following shootings in Texas and Maine. Three people dead in seven days. You need to act. I want to know what you are doing to investigate these deaths and hold ICE accountable. And that's just what we know about. How many people have died in ICE detention facilities that never made the news? Neither ICE nor the Department of Homeland Security even responded to press inquiries about the St. Augustine death. That silence is not acceptable, and your silence isn't either. Demand a full accounting, hold oversight hearings, and push for independent monitoring of every ICE detention facility. People's lives depend on it.
