Congress Must Impeach Trump Now

IMPEACHMENT IS NECESSARY I urge you to undertake and support impeachment proceedings against President Donald J. Trump. The Constitution provides for removal for “Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.” Based on reported actions, this threshold has been met. UNILATERAL USE OF MILITARY FORCE WITHOUT CONGRESSIONAL AUTHORIZATION The Constitution assigns Congress the authority to declare war. Yet the President has used or threatened force without authorization, including strikes in international waters, attacks on foreign territory, and seizure of foreign leaders. COERCIVE FOREIGN POLICY AND THREATS TO SOVEREIGNTY The President has used diplomatic, military, and economic leverage for personal coercion rather than lawful statecraft, destabilizing alliances, threatening allied nations, and undermining treaty commitments. He has publicly suggested or threatened force against allied or sovereign territories, including Greenland and Denmark. DEFIANCE OF BINDING JUDICIAL AUTHORITY In removals to the CECOT facility in El Salvador, federal courts required due process, individualized review, and, in some instances, temporary halts pending judicial determination. Yet enforcement actions continued, thereby defying binding court orders. UNLAWFUL EXECUTIVE STRUCTURES AND ILLEGAL IMPOUNDMENT DOGE has operated with unclear statutory authority and limited transparency, while reports and litigation allege improper access to sensitive federal payment and personal-data systems. The Administration has also unlawfully withheld congressionally appropriated funds: the Government Accountability Office has found violations of the Impoundment Control Act, and federal courts have ordered release of those funds. ABUSES BY IMMIGRATION AND ENFORCEMENT AUTHORITIES Reports describe misconduct by enforcement agents, including ICE, involving homicide, unlawful detentions, mistreatment of U.S. citizens, excessive force, and actions taken without proper warrants or due process. ABUSE OF THE PARDON POWER The President has used the pardon power for improper purposes, converting a constitutional safeguard into a dangerous political instrument. PERSONAL FINANCIAL ENTANGLEMENTS AND EMOLUMENTS The Constitution bars acceptance of financial benefits from foreign or domestic governments without congressional consent. The President has accepted such benefits, creating serious conflicts between interests and official acts. HUMANITARIAN CONSEQUENCES OF UNLAWFUL PROGRAM TERMINATION Humanitarian and foreign assistance programs have been cancelled or suspended without congressional authorization and with drastic consequences. Health models project these terminations could lead to more than 14,000,000 preventable deaths worldwide by 2030. IMMEDIATE CONGRESSIONAL ACTION IS NECESSARY Congress should undertake impeachment proceedings for these abuses immediately, reasserting its constitutional authority and preventing further irreversible harm.
