“Veterans may be not fit for government job” Habba

I am writing to express my concerns regarding recent statements made by White House counselor Alina Habba, who suggested that some veterans may be “not fit” for government jobs. As she stated, “We have taxpayer dollars, we have a fiscal responsibility to use taxpayer dollars to pay people that actually work.” Furthermore, Habba added, “That doesn’t mean that we forget our veterans by any means. We are going to care for them in the right way, but perhaps they’re not fit to have a job at this moment.”
In light of these comments and the fact that approximately 70,000 to 90,000 veterans have lost their jobs in government positions under the current administration, I feel it is important to address the implications of such remarks. While it is crucial to ensure fiscal responsibility, it is equally important to recognize the immense value veterans bring to the workforce. Their experience, skills, and dedication should never be diminished or disregarded.
I respectfully ask that you advocate for our nation’s veterans by ensuring they continue to have access to meaningful employment opportunities within government agencies. I would also appreciate your thoughts on how we can support veterans who face challenges reentering the workforce, ensuring they are treated with dignity and fairness.
