Firing IRS auditors is stupid

I've asked multiple times over now. Why is cutting IRS auditors financially responsible? The return on investment was $1 to get $6. That's incredible! I thought we had a lot of debt? Shouldn't we keep employees that bring in more money than we spend on them?
