As a concerned citizen, I urge you to maintain the EPA's focus on science-based environmental protection for the well-being of all citizens and our natural resources. The agency plays a crucial role in safeguarding public health and the environment. Recent actions, such as placing 168 staffers working on environmental justice issues on administrative leave and shutting down the EJScreen mapping tool used for equitable policymaking, raise concerns about the EPA's commitment to its core mission. Environmental justice ensures all communities have access to clean air, water, and environments, addressing historical disproportionate harm to underserved areas. The EPA's mandate should prioritize protecting vulnerable populations and mitigating pollution's adverse effects on human health and ecosystems. Promoting corporate interests or political agendas at the expense of the agency's fundamental responsibilities would be a disservice to the American people.
