An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Do Not Sacrifice Free Speech for Immigration Enforcement

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

Students and demonstrators are being secretly detained and deported in an alarming escalation of government repression. ICE agents, many wearing masks and operating without warning, are arresting international students for expressing pro-Palestinian views. Mahmoud Khalil, a green card holder, was abducted and disappeared for days, no contact with his lawyer or pregnant wife. Tufts doctoral student Rumeysa Ozturk was arrested on her way to break her fast during Ramadan. Her visa was revoked without due process, and she was transferred across the country in violation of a judge's orders. Their cases are making their way through the courts now, and others are likely to follow. This is not immigration enforcement, it is political punishment. Demand the release of students and demonstrators illegally detained, and call the Directors of the Department of Homeland Security, ICE, and Customs and Border Protection before Congress to testify now.
