An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Corporation for Public Broadcasting

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I am writing to urgently urge you to oppose any proposed cuts to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, particularly the Trump administration’s efforts to defund NPR and PBS. These organizations provide indispensable public services—especially in rural and underserved communities like mine—through trustworthy news, educational content, and cultural programming that is otherwise hard to access. I rely on NPR and PBS for balanced, in-depth reporting and quality educational programming. These outlets are a vital part of our democracy and civic life, and I will be incredibly dismayed if their funding is reduced or eliminated in any way. I also ask you to stand firm against any executive overreach that seeks to interfere with budget items already passed by Congress. The Constitution is clear: Congress holds the power of the purse. Please ensure that this fundamental principle is respected and enforced. Thank you for your attention and for standing up for public media and the integrity of the legislative process.
