I believe the tax system should be reformed because it currently favors extreme wealth over income from work. Billionaires can accumulate fortunes through investments, loans, and inheritances while often paying lower effective tax rates than ordinary workers.
A fairer system would tax luxury purchases such as private jets, yachts, and multiple mansions. It would also discourage enormous political contributions that give wealthy individuals disproportionate influence. Investment income should be taxed more like wages, and large loans secured by stock should not allow billionaires to avoid taxes. Inherited fortunes should also be subject to inheritance taxes.
Corporations should contribute fairly by paying higher taxes, keeping profits from being shifted overseas, and limiting stock buybacks that primarily benefit wealthy shareholders. These changes could encourage investment in workers, innovation, and long-term business growth.
The goal is not to punish success, but to reduce inequality, protect democratic institutions, and ensure that prosperity is shared more broadly.
