Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
Just another observation from a woman in rural Texas. It’s apparent y’all need constant reaffirmation of where most of American women, American men, Americans at large, are on the issue of stripping human rights away from half the population.
We detest it. Hate it. Loathe it. And will do everything humanly possible to defeat those that insist on taking our personal freedoms away. With every fiber of our beings we will resist.
That said, if we are dependent on MEN in power to treat us as human beings, I offer two opposing views from such men.
“After introducing the bill, [Sen. Lindsay] Graham said at a press conference: “I think we should have a law at the federal level that would say after 15 weeks, no abortion on demand except in cases of rape, incest and save the life of a mother. And that should be where America’s at.”
Hint: It’s not.
“On Friday, on the same day as the Arizona ruling [taking the state back to pre-statehood abortion laws] President Joe Biden criticized Graham’s federal bill as being too extreme: “I happen to be a practicing Roman Catholic. My church doesn’t even make that argument now.” The president added that he would veto the bill if it came across his desk.”
The first pronouncement comes from a self-professed Christian lawmaker. I guess he believes only he and God know what’s right for us silly women. And he will make it so however he can.
The second comes from another God-following man. Who seems to lack the paternalistic bent of you who believe we need to be told the right thing to do with our own bodies.
Which of these two beliefs do you think we would choose, if we had to choose, to make decisions on behalf of women?
Fingers crossed that the mid-terms will show you our choice. And that it won’t be you or yours.
