Oppose Unconstitutional Military Deployment in Portland

I am writing to express my deep concern over President Trump's recent announcement to deploy U.S. troops to Portland, Oregon. This action, purportedly to protect ICE facilities from alleged threats, raises serious constitutional and legal questions that demand immediate attention and action from Congress.
The use of military forces for domestic law enforcement is strictly limited by the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878. President Trump's directive to use "Full Force, if necessary" in Portland appears to violate this long-standing law, which has been a cornerstone of American civil-military relations for over a century.
The characterization of Portland as "War ravaged" and the labeling of American citizens as "domestic terrorists" is not only inflammatory but dangerously misrepresents the situation on the ground. Such rhetoric escalates tensions and could potentially lead to unnecessary conflict between citizens and military personnel who are not trained for domestic policing.
I urge you to take immediate action to prevent this unconstitutional use of military force on American soil. Specifically, I ask that you:
1. Publicly denounce this proposed action as a violation of the Posse Comitatus Act.
2. Call for an emergency session of the relevant congressional committees to investigate this directive and its legality.
3. Demand transparency from the White House and the Department of Defense regarding the specifics of this planned deployment.
The use of military force against American citizens on domestic soil is a grave matter that could set a dangerous precedent. It is crucial that we address any domestic issues through proper legal channels, respecting both the Constitution and the rights of American citizens.
I look forward to hearing about the steps you will take to address this urgent matter and protect the constitutional rights of all Americans.
