Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
Having survived a 2000+ mile road trip through the unmasked/unvaccinated south, I yesterday made it back to my small town Texas. It may also be unmasked and unvaccinated but at least I have a place to hide.
In celebration I watched the new movie Don’t Look Up. I would recommend it to any politician. Although you mostly know all the tried and true tricks outlined, you might enjoy the humor. Well, that is unless you are one of the unfortunates that actually believes political propaganda.
But I digress. I’m really writing because I just read yet another in an endless series of hypocrisies exposed. GOP-led states, Arkansas, Florida, Iowa, Kansas and Tennessee, have now decided that, indeed, money from the government for not working is actually a good thing. These states have decided to award unemployment benefits to folks who lose their jobs because they won’t get the jabs.
What a bird’s nest on the ground. To get paid by the American taxpayer to assert your right to not care about the health of your neighbors, your town, your state, or your country. And Republicans enable this behavior. And not only cheer them on, but pay them. With our money. That you’re supposed to be concerned about spending.
It’s a marvel to watch the shapeshifting that seems to be the only true constant in the GOP today. It never ends. And the complete shamelessness never ever ceases to astonish.
Do any of you remember what it is you’re actually supposed to believe in?
Just curious.
(And if you think I’m painting you all with the same broad brush, you’re right. I am. Because where one of you goes, so go you all. With few few few brave rare exceptions.)
