I am writing to demand answers—and accountability—for the blatant hypocrisy displayed by members of Congress who rely on the Transportation Security Administration every time they fly, yet repeatedly vote to deny those same workers fair pay and support.
Specifically, why are Nancy Mace and Debbie Wasserman Schultz continuing to benefit from air travel protections, expedited screening, and professional security provided by the Transportation Security Administration—while supporting policies that effectively refuse to compensate TSA workers fairly?
TSA officers are not optional. They are essential to the safety of every member of Congress, every traveler, and the entire aviation system. These workers show up every day, often under difficult conditions, to ensure that flights are secure. Yet time and again, they are treated as expendable in budget negotiations and political posturing.
Let’s be clear: if members of Congress trust TSA enough to protect them while they travel—often with additional accommodations and expedited treatment—they should have no problem ensuring those same workers are properly paid and supported. Anything less is indefensible.
This is not just a policy disagreement. It is a fundamental question of integrity. You cannot rely on a workforce for your personal safety while simultaneously voting to undermine their livelihoods.
I am demanding the following:
