Deep Concern Over White House Treatment of Ukraine and Apparent Security Breach

I am writing to express my outrage and deep concern regarding President Trump’s treatment of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his visit to the White House. Rather than demonstrating strong U.S. leadership in support of Ukraine, the President publicly berated Zelenskyy, accused him of “gambling with World War III,” and abruptly cut short the meeting while issuing ultimatums. This humiliating display was not just an insult to an ally in desperate need of our support - it was a gift to Vladimir Putin. Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s gleeful reaction to the meeting only underscores the damage done. His celebration of Ukraine’s so-called “slap down” in the Oval Office proves that the Kremlin views President Trump’s behavior as a victory for Russia. Any move that weakens Ukraine or signals U.S. disengagement emboldens Moscow and puts global security at risk. Adding to this alarming situation, reports indicate that a correspondent from TASS, the Russian state news agency, was granted access to the Oval Office during this crucial meeting. While the White House has since claimed that the individual was removed after being noticed, the fact that a Russian state media operative was even present in the first place raises serious questions. How did this happen? Who approved their entry? What information might have been compromised? Given Russia’s track record of propaganda and intelligence operations, this breach is unacceptable. Congress and the U.S. intelligence agencies have spent years warning about Russian influence in our political system. Now, under President Trump’s leadership, the White House itself appears to be opening the doors to Russian state media while publicly chastising Ukraine. This is a national security failure. I urge you to publicly condemn the president’s actions, demand answers about how a Russian state media representative was allowed into the Oval Office, and reaffirm the United States’ unwavering support for Ukraine. We must not allow our country to be manipulated into aiding Putin’s agenda. I look forward to your response.
