While you’re busy promoting the ownership and constant carrying of loaded guns in Tennessee, other elected officials feel the same way that the vast majority of Americans feel about guns: Each day in the United States, more than 300 people are shot, and about 100 of them die. But so far there has been a failure to treat gun violence like the public health emergency it is. “This really is an epidemic which none of us are safe,” said San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo. For the sake of your family, my family, and the countless 10s of thousands of Tennesseans who DO NOT support your so called “constitutional carry” law, I beg you to act responsibly about this issue. If you truly believe your concealed carry law is the best thing for Tennesseans, go before the public and explain the empirical evidence you used to come to that conclusion. If you cannot do that, you’re hiding from your constituents and acting like congressman Matt Gaetz. Is that what you want your legacy to be: that you intentionally endangered the lives of Tennesseans and the lives of visitors to our state? Explain yourself, Governor. I don’t think you can do it.
