Protect LGBTQ+ Kids' Access to Publicly Funded Preschool

Sign onto the congressional brief in St. Mary Catholic Parish v. Roy and make clear that public dollars cannot fund discrimination against LGBTQ+ children and their families. The Supreme Court will hear arguments November 3, and Congress needs to be on record before then. Colorado voters approved universal preschool in 2020 so every 4-year-old could access up to 15 hours of free preschool weekly. The nondiscrimination policy attached to that funding is straightforward: if you take public money, you serve the public. Two Catholic parishes and the Archdiocese of Denver want to pocket those taxpayer dollars while turning away children based on who their parents are. A district court denied them that exemption. A unanimous 10th Circuit panel affirmed it. The law is clear. As Rep. Takano put it, "Public dollars are for the good of the public." A four-year-old should not be turned away from a government-funded classroom because of their family. Stand with the 179 members of Congress who have already signed this brief and send an unambiguous message that discrimination has no place in any program funded by American taxpayers.
