An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures (Texas only)

Vote NO on SB 1029

152 so far! Help us get to 250 signers!

I am contacting you today about Texas SB 1029. This awful legislative proposal would ban insurance coverage for medically necessary healthcare. I urge you DO NOT let this bill become law. Keep government out of people's healthcare decisions. Research has shown time and time again that people with gender dysphoria have better quality of life and lower suicidality when they are supported in their gender transition. Trans people already often face huge financial and social roadblocks to becoming their true self. Don't make it even harder for them. Gender transition care is not dangerous or experimental. Regret rates for gender-affirming procedures are extremely low compared to other types of medical care such as knee surgery, etc. Please see these links for more information. https://www.columbiapsychiatry.org/news/gender-affirming-care-saves-lives https://truthout.org/articles/gender-affirming-health-care-saved-my-life-everyone-should-have-access-to-it/ https://news.ohsu.edu/2021/04/19/affirming-healthcare-is-life-saving-for-transgender-youth If you value personal freedom and the well-being of Texans at all, you will vote against SB 1029. Don't ban insurance coverage for gender affirming healthcare. Thank you for your time.
