An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Pam Bondi is in Contempt - Subpoenas Are Not Optional

I am writing as your constituent to demand immediate accountability from Congress—not just in words, but in action. Today, former Attorney General Pam Bondi was lawfully subpoenaed to testify under oath before the House Oversight and Reform Committee regarding the Department of Justice’s handling of the Epstein files. She did not show up. That is not a scheduling issue. That is not a misunderstanding. That is a direct violation of the law. Let me be absolutely clear: if I ignored a congressional subpoena, I would face swift legal consequences—potentially including arrest. Why is Pam Bondi being treated differently? She is a lawyer. She knows exactly what a subpoena means. Her failure to appear is not accidental—it is willful defiance of the rule of law. Congress makes the laws. Congress issues subpoenas under those laws. And Congress is responsible for enforcing them. If those subpoenas can be ignored without consequence by powerful individuals, then the law itself becomes meaningless. This situation is made even more serious by the subject of the testimony. The Department of Justice has failed to comply with a legal requirement to release the full Epstein files by the mandated deadline of December 19. What has been released is incomplete and heavily redacted beyond what the law permits. The American people—and more importantly, the survivors—deserve the truth. As Representative Jasmine Crockett stated, this is a lawful subpoena, and defying it demands consequences. Representative Robert Garcia is also correct: laws passed by Congress must be enforced, and subpoenas must carry weight. Anything less is a betrayal of your constitutional duty. So I am asking you directly: Will Congress enforce its own authority, or will it allow powerful individuals to ignore the law without consequence? Will Pam Bondi be held in contempt of Congress? Will there be accountability for the failure to comply with both the subpoena and the statutory requirement to release the full Epstein files? This is a test of whether the rule of law still applies equally in the United States. Right now, it appears that it does not. Do your job. Enforce the law. Hold those who defy it accountable—no exceptions. I expect a clear response outlining what actions you will take.
