An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Restore global health programs

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

The halt in U.S. foreign aid and the effective shutdown of global health programs by the administration poses grave risks to the health of millions around the world. As the largest donor to global health efforts, providing 30% of all health assistance to low- and middle-income countries from 2021-2023, the absence of U.S. funding would leave a significant gap that other donors may struggle to fill. This is particularly concerning for the HIV response, where the U.S. provided nearly two-thirds of all donor funding during that period. Several low-income and conflict-affected nations like Haiti, Kenya, and Zambia depended on the U.S. for over half of their health aid. Without a resumption of U.S. support, lifesaving programs will be disrupted, jeopardizing hard-won progress against HIV, TB, malaria and other health threats in vulnerable populations. Urgent action is needed to restore this critical funding and prevent a dire public health crisis.
