Defund ICE and Close Adelanto — Drain Fly Larvae in Drinking Water Is Not an Anomaly

Defund ICE and close every facility like Adelanto. What is happening there is not a maintenance issue — it is a human rights violation, and you have the power to stop funding it.
Detainees at the Adelanto ICE Processing Center are filtering drinking water through their underwear to remove worm-like larvae. Vector experts identified those specimens as drain fly larvae. A federal judge already ordered 24-hour access to clean drinking water on July 16. GEO Group denied every grievance and told nearly 1,700 detained people that the water is fine. It is not fine. Stanford infectious disease professor Dr. Jason Andrews called visible organisms in drinking water "a failure of basic service provision and public health protection." UCLA's Greg Pierce called it "an acute and gross violation of basic drinking water quality standards." The government is responsible for this — and so is every legislator who keeps writing checks to ICE and private prison contractors like GEO Group.
This is a pattern of deliberate neglect targeting people the government has chosen to lock up. Stop funding it. Vote to defund ICE, terminate contracts with GEO Group, and support legislation to close these detention centers for good.
