These cuts would halt progress in cancer research, AI, environmental monitoring, and public health. With over 1,700 NIH and NSF grants canceled, essential breakthroughs are being lost—along with thousands of jobs and billions in economic activity. Defend Data and Statistical Capacity Proposed limits on indirect NIH grant costs, recently blocked in court, would force labs to close by cutting infrastructure and support staff. National data systems crucial for health and policy would erode. The ability to respond to future crises would be gravely weakened. Prevent Dismantling of the NSF Mass layoffs and division closures across the NSF are underway, and over 1,000 approved grants have been rescinded. These actions disproportionately harm early-career researchers and diversity programs in STEM—damaging America’s innovation pipeline.
