Resistbot Petition: Cut military spending

An open letter to the President & U.S. Congress

Cut military spending

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

Cut military spending. The whole point of the military is to protect Americans, but the massive amount of funding being pulled from our budget is killing us. We spend more than the next 7 largest military budgets combined. Meanwhile Americans are dying of preventable diseases because we can't afford healthcare and the country is burning due to our colonialism and climate change. We have the money to fight this. Even the military acknowledges that climate change is one of our greatest threats. What is the point of spending all of that money on the Military when our greatest threats aren't things it can protect us from. We could cut military spending by 100 billion dollars annually and not meaningfully impact our ability to wage war. Climate change will. Having a population dying and suffering long term harm hampers military recruitment while universal healthcare reduces the burden on the VA. Increasing the number of educated Americans through tuition free college will greatly strengthen our military. Less climate change means less cause for conflict and fewer refugees. Our military budget is cutting off our nose to spite our face.
