VOTE NO on the SAVE America Act (H.R. 7147/S. 2882)

I am writing to you today as a concerned constituent and a frequent voter to urge you to vote NO on the SAVE America Act. This legislation is a solution in search of a problem that does not exist. Proponents of this bill claim it is necessary to prevent non-citizens from voting, yet even the Heritage Foundation’s own data proves this is a non-issue. An independent analysis of their database found only 77 instances of non-citizens voting out of more than 500 million votes cast over 24 years. Our current systems are already proven to be 99.999% effective at preventing this. Instead of protecting "integrity," this bill would effectively disenfranchise millions of eligible, tax-paying American citizens, including many here in our state: -- The "Married Name" Hurdle: Millions of women whose current photo IDs do not match the name on their birth certificate would be forced to navigate a bureaucratic nightmare just to stay registered. -- The Rural & Elderly Tax: Requiring in-person documentary proof of citizenship at a Board of Elections office is a physical and financial burden on rural Ohioans, students, and the elderly who may no longer drive or have easy access to a passport. -- The End of Efficiency: This bill would likely kill online voter registration and voter registration drives—tools that make our democracy more accessible and less expensive to manage. This bill isn’t about security; it’s about creating barriers for legal voters. I expect my representatives to protect my right to vote, not to legislate hurdles that make it harder for me and my neighbors to participate in our democracy.
