I am a transgender individual, no longer safe in half of my home country due to laws being debated and passed in this so-called "land of the free and home of the brave." I have no doubt my lifespan will be shortened considerably if Trump wins the next election.
That being said, I cannot vote for you, either. Aiding, abetting, blessing, supplying, and making excuses for genocide in Palestine is not something I can stomach, even if it means Trump wins by default because of the votes lost on your side.
If we continue down this path, which we ought never have taken, we are no better than Trump and the armed bullies he empowers. If we continue down this path, we are no better than the old Axis powers. If we continue down this path, it will be because we have refused to learn from the history which we are already forbidding our educators teach.
I am terrified for my literal life if Trump wins. But I will completely understand it when he does due to lack of votes in your favor. I cannot vote for these continued US vetos of the UN resolutions calling for ceasefire. I will not. Aaron Bushnell saw what has been happening, and his sacrifice he thought might mean something, if the thousands of Palestinian victims did not.
They say the power to call for ceasefire falls entirely on you. Netanyahu is not synonymous with the people or the faith of Israel. Condemn his actions and those of his government. Make clear the Jewish faith demands more compassion than this. Jesus Christ was himself a Jewish Rabbi, though not the Christ to the Jewish people who still wait on a Messiah. Netanyahu is not the Messiah.
Ceasefire is the literal least you must do.
We know America is complicit in this same terror globally, and historically on this very land wet with the blood of murdered Indigenous, kidnapped Africans, persecuted women, abused children, oppressed Chinese, starving essential workers... we are no better. We must be better.
