Impeach Trump for ignoring Congress’ Constitutional authority for war

Last week, as we prepared to celebrate 250 years of our country, Air Force Major Jason Watson stood on the steps of the Capitol, honoring his oath of office to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” His principled stance advocating for the impeachment, conviction, and removal of the president resulted in his arrest. Please watch his speech. This is a man who loves our country, and voluntarily put his livelihood at risk to defend it and to honor his oath. You, representative, must do the same. The great American experiment has carried us this far. Our nation’s founders, however, did not know that a president would deploy military into our cities. They did not know that he would deny the due process of law to hundreds or thousands, deporting them to brutal, foreign detention centers. They did not know that he would be responsible for murdering Alex Pretti, a harmless VA nurse, in the streets of Minneapolis. What they did know, is that there would be a day when a president would act outside his authority. And for that day, they gave us Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution: They gave us impeachment. As a member of Congress, you swore the same oath to defend the Constitution as Major Watson did. It is not an oath of convenience or political expediency. This oath does not only exist when there is a majority to support it, or when the opposing party occupies the White House. This oath exists because it is right. President Trump has committed impeachable offenses, and his impeachment, conviction, and removal from office are the fulfillment of your oath of office. You cannot guarantee the result, but you have the duty to try. I call on you to fulfill your oath, and pursue articles of impeachment against President Donald J. Trump today.
