Stop SB 1

As an engaged and active Ohio voter I urge you to vote no on any advancement or support of SB 1. SB 1 is a harmful attack on working people, labor and unions by handcuffing collective bargaining, attempting to silence the voices of more than 10,000 union workers, and begins the dismantling of collective bargaining rights for all workers and that is unacceptable. In addition, the passage of SB 1 would hamstring Ohio colleges and universities’ ability to attract and retain talent due to provisions of the proposed bill which would limit educators’ ability to teach various topics deemed ‘controversial’ by the government. Students have a wide array of institutions to choose from when selecting their education path. There are private colleges, parochial colleges, arts colleges, etc. The decision on which school to attend based on its curriculum should be left to the providing institution and the student. Rolling back worker protections along with removing the diversity of offerings in Ohio will cost us professionals, students, athletes, and revenue as individuals seek opportunities outside Ohio. As an Ohioan, I urge you to denounce SB 1 and vote no.
