Prioritize comprehensive reproductive health solutions, not abortion bans

Abortion bans have historically failed to reduce the number of abortions while posing severe risks to the health and well-being of pregnant individuals. Rather than addressing the root causes that lead individuals to seek abortions, such bans only serve to endanger those who are already in vulnerable situations. Studies have shown that abortion restrictions disproportionately impact marginalized communities, including low-income individuals, people of color, and those living in rural areas, who often face significant barriers in accessing reproductive healthcare services. We must prioritize comprehensive solutions that protect the rights and dignity of all individuals, ensuring access to safe and legal reproductive healthcare services. Passing legislation that restricts reproductive freedoms without addressing the underlying systemic issues will only perpetuate cycles of marginalization and harm for these communities. Please prioritize contraception and sexual health education as preventative care instead of abortion bans, and remember that abortions are healthcare. While you may not personally agree with the decision of getting an abortion, this decision needs to remain between a women and her doctor. Restricting the rights and freedoms of others to make the best medical decisions for themselves is not what our nation stands for.
