Should Someone Raised in America Be Forced to Leave?

As your constituent, I urge you to help advance the American Dream and Promise Act of 2025, H.R. 1589. If you have not already done so, please sign Discharge Petition No. 25 so the House can vote on this bipartisan legislation. If you have already signed, thank you, and please help secure the remaining signatures needed for House consideration. A PERMANENT SOLUTION FOR DREAMERS AND TPS HOLDERS H.R. 1589 would allow qualifying people brought to the United States as children to obtain conditional permanent-resident status and later remove that condition if they meet the bill’s residency, education, employment, military service, and security requirements. It would also provide permanent residence to eligible people who have long held Temporary Protected Status (TPS) or Deferred Enforced Departure. These individuals have built lives here, supported families, worked, studied, served in the military, and contributed to their communities. Many are raising American children and contributing to workplaces and local economies. A permanent solution would help employers retain trained workers, give schools and communities stability, recognize military service, and strengthen the rule of law by replacing shifting policies with clear standards enacted by Congress. Yet without legislation, they must live with the possibility that a future policy change could separate them from their families and the country they call home. TEMPORARY PROTECTION IS NOT ENOUGH Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and TPS have protected many people from removal and allowed them to work legally. But these protections remain temporary and can be changed through executive action, litigation, or shifts in agency policy. Congress should establish clear and lasting rules. Permanent legislation would replace years of instability with defined eligibility standards, security screening, and an orderly legal process. ALLOW THE HOUSE TO VOTE Earlier versions of this legislation passed the House with bipartisan support in 2019 and 2021. The current bill also has support from members of both parties, but it remains pending in the House. Discharge Petition No. 25 requires 218 signatures. Members who have not signed should do so, and those who have signed should encourage additional colleagues to join them. Reaching the required threshold would allow the House to consider H.R. 1589 and hold a recorded vote. I urge you to: (1) ADVANCE THE PETITION.
