An open letter to State Governors & Legislatures (Nev. only)

Common-sense regulations for Data Centers in Nevada now

4 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

Common-sense regulations for Data Centers immediately! AI centers require huge amounts of water for cooling and huge amounts of electricity to run. I suspect the new tier system NV Energy wants to use next year is an attempt to have consumers help foot the bill for the data centers here within Clark County and across Nevada. I find it outrageous that data centers are allowed to set up in desert communities further draining our water supply. I read in the news that the largely unregulated rise of data centers to fuel AI is invading cities and threatening economic, environmental, climate, and water security. I've also read articles and watched news reports of how data centers near residential neighborhoods negatively impact the health of the residents. I was shocked to read that in Las Vegas, there are already 35 data centers established. In a city [and state] known for water supply insecurity, I find this to be outrageous and irresponsible. Thank you.
