I’m writing to you as your constituent demanding you to URGENTLY pressure the authorities of the Iranian regime to halt the execution of 19 year old Samira Sabzianfard, who is facing execution and being held in prison without due process. Please take immediate action in outspokenly and politically pressuring officials of the Iranian regime to halt this execution along with innumerable others. Lives are at stake, please use your power.
From the Center for Human Rights in Iran:
A source revealed to the Center for Human Rights in Iran that 19-year-old Samira Sabzianfard faces imminent execution in Iran.
Sabzianfard, barely an adult, is currently held at Gharchak Prison, located south of Tehran. Specific details regarding her situation remain scarce.
She stands accused of the incident involving her husband's death. However, similar cases involving women on death row in Iran have raised serious concerns about the lack of due process, especially in instances where these women have been denied their rights while experiencing violence and abuse.
In the past 11 months, Iran's judicial system has been executing numerous individuals, including women, following trials that fell drastically short of providing fair legal representation and proper defense opportunities.
This pattern of sentencing women to death not only perpetuates a cycle of abhorrent and cruel punishment but also reflects the systemic failure to address the fundamental issue of protecting women against violence and abuse in Iran.
It's an urgent call for justice and an end to this devastating trend.
