Defund, Disarm, Abolish the Police.

We need to put an end to police violence. They need to be disarmed, defunded and held accountable. In my city alone police are responsible for 43% of the homicides. Over 70% of their victims are unarmed. They are 510% more likely to use lethal force against Black residents and 30% more likely to use lethal force against Latino residents. Riverside is hardly the worst although our county sheriff's department is far worse than even that unacceptable level. We need to actively penalize cities and departments with numbers like this. We need to make it far easier to hold cops accountable for such blatant violence and racism. The police are a violent occupying force holding our people and our budgets hostage. They aren't even competent at the jobs they claim to do. They solve a bare fraction of the crimes that get reported because they are more concerned with their ability to harm communities than building the relationships needed to investigate. Nobody wants to cooperate with the organization that murdered their friend or family member and habitualy harasses you. We need a replacement for police. Investigators who aren't armed. Traffic enforcement who don't shoot or arrest people. Imagine if we insisted safety inspectors carried a gun and could shoot anyone who resisted. Abolish the police.
