An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Vote NO on HR 899

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you, in the strongest possible terms, to protect funding for all our vital agencies, but specifically to vote NO on H.R. 899, the bill to eliminate the US Department of Education.   As you know, the Department of Education plays a vital role in setting educational standards, distributing funding, enforcing civil rights laws in schools, and supporting students with disabilities. Eliminating it would undermine equal access to quality education nationwide.   Yes, Local control over education is important, and how the funds get distributed from our taxes, but national leadership ensures all children receive sufficient resources and opportunity regardless of their zip code. We have too many states that have sub-standard schools, inadequate programs and standards, and cannot prepare their students for the modern workforce.   Advancing and investing in our education system is vital to justice, fairness and equity afforded to future generations.   Vote NO on H.R. 899. Take the case for your vote to the American people. Thank you for your service.
