The people of India are needlessly suffering while America continues to cede power in Asia. Not only is helping the people of India the right humanitarian thing to do, it is the right thing to do regarding our economic and national security. Of course we must first care for the people living in America but much can be done to help overseas without sacrificing our own vaccine effort. We cannot continue to lose ground in the Asian arena to China; especially with regard to a large democratic nation. At the very least, we should be securing the health and economic well-being of countries in N and S America. However, an America and only America first policy is indefensible.
