An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Turning Away From People in Crisis Isn’t Popular in Iowa

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

Recent data shows Iowa Republicans are losing support: • Gov. Kim Reynolds is the only governor in the U.S. with a net negative approval rating, per Morning Consult—that’s a historic low for Iowa GOP leadership . • Donald Trump’s approval in Iowa has declined notably, falling below 50% in recent Reuters/Ipsos polling—even though he carries the state . Cutting Medicaid and defunding LGBTQ+ crisis support via 988 will cost lives—and is likely even less popular than tax breaks for the wealthy. How many lives must be lost before this becomes unpopular enough to stop? I demand that you: • Restore Medicaid funding—no cuts, no work requirements. • Reinstate LGBTQ+ “Press 3” support for the 988 crisis line. • Make your stance known—sponsor legislation, secure funding, and show voters you’ll defend people in crisis, not abandon them. Letting people die won’t win votes in Iowa or anywhere.
