Consider Divestment from Israel in Gaza Ceasefire Resolution

The recent approval of the Gaza ceasefire resolution by the Sacramento City Council is a commendable step towards promoting peace and interfaith relationships. However, it is crucial to take a stronger stance. The resolution should not only call for an immediate and permanent bilateral ceasefire, the release of Israeli hostages, unrestricted humanitarian aid into Gaza, and the release of Palestinians held without charge or trial, but also consider divestment from Israel. This action would send a clear message about Sacramento's commitment to human rights and justice. It is important to note that this is part of a larger movement, with over 70 U.S. cities passing similar resolutions. Therefore, it is requested that the council consider this proposal for the betterment of global peace and justice.
