Oppose & Block Attacks on HUD and Disaster Recovery Programs

Today I’m writing to urge you to block and demand a halt to the unlawful attacks on the Department of Housing and Urban Development ordered through the fictitious agency “DOGE”.
HUD programs are instrumental in providing housing assistance and disaster relief to vulnerable communities across the United States. The proposed staffing cuts, office closures, and grant cancellations severely undermine HUD's ability to fulfill its mission of:
• Assistance for first-time home buyers
• Rental subsidies for low-income Americans
• Homelessness prevention programs
• Aid to communities expand their housing supply
• Funds for disaster recovery
• Protection against housing discrimination
In addition, the anticipated shortfall for Section 8 vouchers could leave hundreds of thousands of households without access to critical
rental subsidies.
Slashing HUD's resources through backdoor tactics is unacceptable and detrimental to the well-being of countless Americans. And the extreme cuts to the Disaster Recovery Unit of HUD, especially following the wildfires, floods, tornadoes and hurricanes will make any process of rebuilding slow, and more costly. This will also mean businesses will take an economic hit if people must move rather than find housing near their jobs.
If we truly want to improve the homelessness situation, support disaster recovery efforts, and protect against discriminatory housing practices, we need the oversight of HUD.
Don’t stand for it: Call a hearing about this with members of HUD that have been laid off, like a HUD Town Hall.
Oppose and block these cuts and defunding moves. Thank you.
