On Wednesday you experienced and attempted fascist coup. This is completely consistent with the foreign policy the united states has applied to the rest of the world for decades. It was supported and encouraged by the president and his party completely in line with their policies of racism and authoritarianism over the last four years. This coup was known about for weeks and openly encouraged by the president and his allies in and out of congress. Law enforcement, who has always been expressions of authoritarianism and white supremacy demonstrated a reluctance to prevent this assault, where they have only displayed enthusiasm against peaceful protests as long as they are BIPOC or disabled.
This has always been America. This is completely consistent with our history. This has been described and predicted from the beginning. This is who we are, but it isn't who we have to be.
You maybe tempted to lean even harder into authoritarianism. This merely encourages more of the same. The only way to combat racism and authoritarianism is anti-racism and radical democracy. You want things to go back to the way they were but this is always how they have been. The only difference is you are finally feeling some of the consequences.
We need to end all voter suprression and have truly universal voting. These authoritarian minorities have kept power for too long because congress won't act. We need to put an end to our authoritarian policies domestic and foreign. That means ending such fascist organizations as ICE. Defund the military industrial complex. Invest in empowering the people instead of crushing us with police who have more in common with white supremacists and corporations than the people.
We do not need solidarity with those who come to kill and oppress us, we need empowerment and accountability.
