Let Voters Decide on Protect Education

I am writing to ask you to OPPOSE any bill or negotiation that would throw away the will of Arizona voters and invalidate hundreds of thousands of signatures for the Protect Education initiative,  just one week before signatures are due. As a supporter of the Protect Education petition, I am vehemently opposed to a special legislative session intended to negotiate a deal that would invalidate the will of hundreds of thousands of Arizona voters who signed to put ESA voucher reform on the ballot.  Arizona voters are ready to pass this long-overdue voucher reform in November. Polling consistently shows that voters adamantly support public school funding, alongside increased accountability and transparency of ESA private school vouchers. A special session to kill the Protect Education Act would rob the people of Arizona of their ability to vote to rein in the $1 billion voucher program and recoup hundreds of millions of dollars for Arizona’s public school students. Voters have a right to weigh in on how their taxpayer dollars are spent through Arizona’s citizens’ initiative process, free from the interference of politicians and special interests. As one of thousands of Arizonans who volunteered to support the Protect Education Act, we have dedicated countless hours in the heat to collect these signatures and have meaningful conversations with our neighbors. Let’s give Arizonans a chance to weigh in on this issue at the ballot box. Please do not discard all of our hard work to give Arizona voters a say on reforming universal ESA vouchers. Honor the signatures we have collected and allow the voters to decide. Thank you for your consideration.
