It is unacceptable that Attorney General Ken Paxton is now forcing Texas taxpayers to pay for his misconduct. By dropping his appeal in the $6.7 million whistleblower lawsuit, Paxton guaranteed Texans will cover not only the settlement but also more than a million dollars in interest if lawmakers do not intervene. This follows over $5 million already spent on his impeachment trial, and millions wasted on his voter fraud unit, which has uncovered no fraud while draining resources from public safety and election integrity efforts.
Instead of serving Texans, Paxton has turned his office into a political sideshow. He has filed lawsuits against clean energy programs, wasted millions on baseless election fraud cases, and spent over $6 million suing the federal government to push partisan agendas. All the while, he has ignored urgent issues like property taxes, rural hospital closures, and infrastructure failures.
Texans of every political view deserve an attorney general who works for them, not one who burns their money on personal vendettas and political stunts. It’s time to remove Ken Paxton from office and restore integrity to Texas.
