An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Defend Congress' lawmaking role, reject executive overreach bill

44 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!

Consolidating executive power and enabling the president to unilaterally reorganize the federal government undermines the separation of powers enshrined in the Constitution. The legislative branch must retain its authority to write laws and exercise oversight, engaging in robust debate to reach consensus. Ceding this responsibility to the president removes Congress' vital role as a co-equal branch of government and weakens checks and balances. I urge you to reject this bill that would diminish democratic processes and concentrate power in the executive in an unprecedented manner. Uphold the principles of our democratic system by defending Congress' lawmaking prerogatives.
