Tariff relief for sale?
1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!
I am writing to express deep concerns about the connection between your tariff policies and recent reports of wealthy individuals and corporations paying millions of dollars for exclusive “access” to you at Mar-a-Lago. Reports indicate that a one-on-one meeting with you costs $5 million, while a candlelight dinner requires a $1 million “contribution.” At the same time, businesses appear to be seeking carve-outs from your trade policies, which seem to be shifting unpredictably.
Is this what your “tariff whiplash” is really about—determining who will pay you the most for tariff relief? If businesses must pay for access to negotiate better terms, does that not amount to a form of blackmail? Should American industry be held hostage to your “fundraising” efforts?
Beyond the political and ethical implications, I am concerned about how these erratic policies affect the average American taxpayer. Tariffs drive up the cost of goods, hurt American manufacturers reliant on imported materials, and create economic uncertainty. If tariff exemptions are being granted based on political “donations” rather than economic merit (a whole new DEI with “Donors Establish Influence)then everyday Americans are footing the bill while large corporations buy their way out of the consequences.
Mr. President, Americans deserve fair and transparent policies, not a system where influence is seemingly up for sale. I urge you to clarify your position and reassure the public that tariff decisions are made in the best interest of all Americans—not just those who can afford to pay for a seat at your dinner table.
