An open letter to the President & U.S. Congress; State Governors & Legislatures

Trump Calls Domestic Violence a ‘Little Fight

9 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!

On September 8, 2025, at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, President Trump said that “if a man has a little fight with the wife, they say this was a crime.” That is not a little fight, that is domestic violence. His words minimize abuse, put survivors at risk, and send a dangerous message that violence in the home can be excused. I am asking you directly: do you agree with the President’s statement, or will you condemn it? Survivors and families deserve to hear their elected officials reaffirm that domestic violence is a serious crime, never minor, never acceptable, and never excusable. Please speak out publicly to make clear that our laws and our leaders will continue to protect families and uphold justice.
