Support HRes409 – Recognizing the Ongoing Nakba and Palestinian Refugees’ Rights
29 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!
I am writing to urge you to support H.Res. 409, introduced by Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib. This resolution acknowledges the 77th anniversary of the Nakba, the mass displacement of Palestinians during the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, and recognizes the ongoing challenges faced by Palestinian refugees.
The Nakba, meaning “catastrophe” in Arabic, refers to the forced displacement of over 750,000 Palestinians and the destruction of more than 400 villages between 1947 and 1949. This resolution not only commemorates this historical event but also highlights the continued displacement and human rights issues affecting Palestinians today .
Supporting H.Res. 409 is a step toward acknowledging historical injustices and promoting human rights. The resolution calls for the United States to officially recognize the Nakba, support the rights of Palestinian refugees as enshrined in international law, and ensure that U.S. foreign policy aligns with principles of justice and equality .
I urge you to stand in solidarity with those affected by these longstanding issues and to support H.Res. 409. Your backing would demonstrate a commitment to human rights and a just foreign policy.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
