No BIF if Manchin Kills Climate Provisions in BBB

The New York Times reports that the Senate and White House plan to remove key climate change mitigation provisions from the Build Back Better Act to make it palatable to Senator Manchin. I think House Progressives should say they will kill the infrastructure bill if these provisions are left out. It is unacceptable to build more roads and highways while doing nothing to rein in carbon emissions. The Progressive Caucus should also be explicit that Manchin does not want these provisions removed for the sake of his constituents, but because of his own financial stake in coal. If Manchin wants the infrastructure bill - which he is already talking up and trumpeting about - he can’t keep slicing pieces off the reconciliation bill like this. Especially not the climate pieces.
