Protect Californians' digital privacy and civil liberties

The indiscriminate sale and misuse of precise location data by private companies and data brokers poses a severe threat to Californians' privacy and civil liberties. Evidence shows that government entities have purchased this data to unlawfully track protesters and target immigrant communities, circumventing constitutional protections against unreasonable search and seizure. AB 1355, the California Location Privacy Act, and AB 322 Precise Geolocation Information Bill would implement crucial safeguards by restricting companies' ability to collect, retain, and sell location data without consent. No Californian should have their daily movements monitored, commodified, and exploited solely for going about their routine activities. Passing these landmark pieces of legislation would cement California's leadership in digital privacy rights and uphold our fundamental civil liberties in the digital age. I urge you to support AB 1355 and AB 322 to protect Californians from this insidious violation of our constitutional rights.
