Yes HB2543 Close Background Check Loopholes

Please vote to support House Bill 2543 and close the loophole on gun sales. Without federal action, states need to take it upon themselves to take broader action to deal with the gun violence epidemic. Per an article from OPB: Data from the gun control advocacy group Everytown for Gun Safety estimates that background checks delayed more than three days are four times more likely to ultimately be denied. In 2019, Everytown said, 2,989 firearms nationwide were transferred to prohibited persons before a background check could be completed. In Oregon, estimates are similarly high. Please also support providing more OSP staff to ensure background checks are performed in a timely manner.
